About Me

My photo
I have loved drawing for as long as I can remember. When I was about four, my sister showed me how to draw stick figures and cats out of circles and triangles and I can recall how it thrilled me. In elementary school I spent more time drawing than studying (not such a good thing). The teachers often asked me to draw posters for their classes and I also won several art contests as a child. Unfortunately, I had many struggles growing up and as a result, my art skills were eventually forgotten. Then came children and family commitments and, until I met Larry in 1999, art was the last thing on my mind. As a result of his insistence, I made the decision to become serious as an artist. It's been an exciting journey and my only regret is not starting sooner!

Lolly

I try, in all of my work, to create the feeling that the image is fleeting, as if you are looking at a split second in time. I think this drawing is an excellent example of that.

This piece won second place in an international art contest. It's one of my first portrait drawings.

Kylia

This is my second portrait drawing. It won second prize in an international art contest. It is a drawing of one of my students, Kylia, when I was teaching at a private school. Her mother commissioned me to do this after seeing my first portrait drawing of another student in the same class, which was sold for $100 to his parents.
I lost track of Kylia and her family so they never received this drawing. This is the drawing that made me realize that I needed to get serious about my artistic abilities.

Memory

Second place award winner that was juried by renowned artist, John De La Vega.

I'm Happy Now

This is a drawing of my daughter Theresa when she was three; it's one of my earlier drawings.
At the time I had no idea what to do with the background.
